Limassol (Cyprus), January 15, 2006 -- Prestigio Technologies Ltd., a dynamic international vendor of state-of-the-art products for Digital Home and Digital Office, today announced the release of a new handheld digital entertainment product for mobile users -- Prestigio Portable Multimedia Player PMP-501. The new product is immediately available at Prestigio partners’ stores across the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The Prestigio Portable Multimedia Player (PMP-501) is a trendy and stylish handheld multimedia player based on a 1.8” Mobile PATA hard disk drive with 30GB storage capacity. It enables users to watch videos and listen to entire music albums no matter where they go. This multi-functional pocket-size device is designed for mobile users who don’t want to waste time on trips preferring to keep multimedia data within easy reach wherever they travel.
With the PMP-501, you can watch movies or view photos «on the go», since the player has a large 3.5-inch LCD display (320x240 pixels) ensuring excellent picture quality. For photos, there is also a slide-show function that turns the PMP into an electronic photo album. On top of that, the device can also double as E-Book owing to text file viewing support.
The PMP’s 30GB storage capacity is enough for storing up to 40 movies or 8500 mp3 files. The PMP-501 has a high quality audio system and integrated stereo speakers that enable users to share impressions with their friends. They can also enjoy bright and colourful video on TV while at home or in a hotel room via the TV-Out connection. The built-in voice recorder allows for quality recording of business meeting minutes or lectures.
With Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface, users can transmit files and/or folders from PC to PMP at a rate of up to 15MB per second. The PMP-501 supports the following file formats: - Video: MPEG-1/2/4, ASF, AVI (DivX 3.11/4.x/5.x, XviD), WMV9, MP4. - Audio: MP3, WMA9, AC3, AAC, OGG. - Photo: JPG, BMP, GIF. The player supports most of the popular codecs (including DivX and XviD) so that most files can be played without conversion. Files of unsupported formats can be easily converted by One Click TransC program which is bundled on CD.
The PMP-501 runs on a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery (3000 mAh) supporting runtimes of up to 4.5 hours in video mode, and up to 10 hours in audio mode. The device supports multiple languages in the On-Screen menu, as well as various encodings in subtitles, text files, and filenames. The weight of the device with the battery does not exceed 285g.
The PMP-501 is covered by Prestigio’s 2-year international limited warranty.
The recommended retail price for PMP-501 in the EU stands at USD 279 (without VAT).
